BOL1 Boleite,

Amalia Mine, Santa Rosalia Co, Baja California, Mexico (Type Locality)

4.4x 4.3x 4.0 cm

A rare matrix boleite specimen, with an exceptionally sharp, 5mm (edge length) crystal..  As most of you already know, the matrix is clay, which meant that matrixes crumbled away from most of the specimens that were recovered.  To prevent this, the matrix of this specimen has been stabilized with a mixture of glue and water (standard procedure for matrix boleites).  This mine originally operated in the 1800's, was reworked for a couple years in the 1970's,  and has since been closed.

For more information on the locality, see Mineralogical record Vol. 29 No. 1

BOL2 Boleite,

Amalia Mine, Santa Rosalia Co, Baja California, Mexico (Type Locality)

2.6x2.5x 2.3 cm

A rare matrix boleite specimen, with a deep blue, 3 mm (edge length) crystal.  As most of you already know, the matrix is clay, which meant that matrixes crumbled away from most of the specimens that were recovered.  To prevent this, the matrix has been stabilized with a mixture of glue and water (standard procedure for these specimens).  There is a little bit of anglesite and atacamite on the matrix as well.

ZAIC1 Cuprosklodowskite

Musonoi Extension, Katanga Province, Democratic Republic of Congo

6.7x 3.7x 3.0 cm

A vain of bright green cuprosklodowskite running through the triangular prism-shaped matrix.  There is cuprosklodowskite on three sides of this specimen (two are pictured).  There is also another yellow uranium mineral present as well, though I am not certain of its identity.

These are getting very difficult to find as decent cabinet specimens.

JERJ1 Jeremejevite

Swakopmund, Namibia

1.2x .2x .2 cm.

A small, sharply terminated crystal of this extremely rare gem mineral.  Prices have come down substantially over the past couple years (I remember a few years ago something like this would have been in the hundreds...)

An interesting fact:  although just about all the jeremejevite on the market today comes from a few finds in Namibia, the type locality is actually in eastern Russia.
