NB01 Fluorite
Erongo Mountain, Erongo Region, Namibia
7.0x 5.0x 5.1 cm
$2000

A great fluorite on matrix from finds made in late 2021.  There is a lot of fluorite that comes from Erongo, but most of it comes out broken.  What isn't, is often covered with unsightly coatings, etched surfaces, or the crystals are so etched that they come out loose. This one has a couple exceptionally well positioned crystals on matrix, with great color-- and when backlit, it only improves.  The crystals are well exposed from pretty much every angle, and make for a great display.

NB02 Quartz with Fluorite
Erongo Mountain, Erongo Region, Namibia
14.0x 8.1x 5.2 cm
$1380

A great example of quartz from a 2021 find about halfway up the southern face of the mountain, this pice combined colorless quartz with green fluorite. There were a number of lone quartz crystals (as expected, many destroyed in just the wrong places) but this one was relatively clean, and the bright green fluorite adds a pleasant accent. What particularly sets this piece apart however, is that some of the fluorite is actually included in the secondary crystal.

NB03 Quartz var. Amethyst with Calcite
Swakopmund Area, Erongo Region, Namibia
13.0x 10.7x 4.1 cm
$400

At first glance this might look like something from Brazil or Uruguay, but this is actually from a relatively new deposit near the coast, just north of Swakopmund. This piece consists of a shallow amethystine geode hosting a cluster of brown, radiating calcite crystals. There are a few minor cleaves on the calcite cluster.

NB04 Beryl var. Aquamarine
Erongo Mountain, Erongo Region, Namibia
4.7x 4.1x 2.8 cm
$395

A chunky aquamarine crystal from Erongo Mountain.

NB05 Quartz var. Amethyst (Enhydro)
Goboboseb Mtns., Brandberg Area, Erongo Region, Namibia
14.1x 7.1x 5.3 cm
$695

A large amethyst/smoky enhydro, hosting a few moving bubbles, some of them reasonably sizable.

NB06 Fluorite with Muscovite
Erongo Mountain, Erongo Region, Namibia
6.1x 4.0x 2.3 cm
$485

A nice example of cubic green fluorite sharing a matrix with an elongated muscovite book, one of the typical muscovite habits from this area.

NB07 Fluorite
Erongo Mountain, Erongo Region, Namibia
3.5x 3.1x 2.6 cm
$395

A beautiful group of green fluorite crystals with purple accents-- remarkably complete and with smooth surfaces.  A lot of fluorite comes from Erongo, but it is often hard to find complete ones, and when you do, they will often suffer form unsightly coatings, excessive etching... this one has none of those issues, and is a particularly good miniature!

NB08 Fluorite
Goboboseb Mtns., Brandberg Area, Erongo Region, Namibia
10.2x 8.1x 2.8 cm
$335

An interesting discovery from an area primarily known for quartz-- yellow fluorite.  This piece consists of quartz with multiple yellow crystals, some with purple edges.  Unusual material from a 2021 find.

NB09 Quartz var. Amethyst (Enhydro)
Goboboseb Mtns., Brandberg Area, Erongo Region, Namibia
8.0x 4.0x 4.9 cm

Saturated green fluorite crystals on a plate of muscovite books.

NB12 Fluorite
Erongo Mountain, Erongo Region, Namibia
4.4x 4.2x 2.1 cm
$285

A green fluorite crystal on a bit of matrix. It has a protrusion that gives the impression that a twin was starting to form, but then it changed its mind and decided to stay as more of a dodecahedron. The crystal is really well positioned on the matrix, it is complete all around and can be viewed from multiple angles (hence the many photographs...)

NB13 Fluorite on Quartz
Goboboseb Mtns., Brandberg Area, Erongo Region, Namibia
4.5x 4.4x 3.8 cm
$165

A nice example of blue fluorite on matrix of quartz crystal from finds made in the Goboboseb area, better known for amethyst and quartz.

NB14 "Gitter" Quartz
Erongo Mountain, Erongo Region, Namibia
11.0x 4.4x 3.7 cm
$295

A great example of "gitter" quartz, from the German for "grid" or "lattice"-- so called because of the crosshatch arrangement of the quartz crystals that have epitaxially grown on the underlying orthoclase. These are primarily known from very old finds, though there seems to have been a pocket of the stuff discovered more recently as well.

NB15 Gitter Quartz
Erongo Mountain, Erongo Region, Namibia
7.0x 3.7x 3.1 cm
$180

A great example of "gitter" quartz, from the German for "grid" or "lattice"-- so called because of the crosshatch arrangement of the quartz crystals that have epitaxially grown on the underlying orthoclase. These are primarily known from very old finds, though there seems to have been a pocket of the stuff discovered more recently as well.

NB17 Fluorite
Erongo Mountain, Erongo Region, Namibia
3.7x 3.4x 1.9 cm
$295

A vividly colored fluorite crystal from Erongo. As is often the case on Erongo, the crystals from this pocket often had deep etching, so many were extracted as somewhat hemispherical crystals-- the back is a mixture of etching and a bit of contacting. Very brilliant color with even a little backlighting.

NB19 Fluorite on Orthoclase
Erongo Mountain, Erongo Region, Namibia
6.1x 4.5x 6.4 cm
$465

A cluster of fluorite crystals on a somewhat decomposed orthoclase. The crystals are complete and display vivid color with backlighting, though are somewhat etched on the side. From the same pocket as NB01.

NB20 Beryl var. Aquamarine
Erongo Mountain, Erongo Region, Namibia
4.5x 2.4x 1.8 cm
$195

A nice example of a terminated blue aquamarine crystal on a bit of feldspar, from Erongo Mountain.

NB23 Topaz on Quartz
Klein Spitzkoppe, Erongo Region, Namibia
3.5x 2.5x 2.1 cm
$165

A "toenail" sized specimen of topaz on quartz, from Klein Spitzkoppe. This is a (relatively) small hill located about 30 km slightly southwest of Erongo.

NB24 Beryl var. Aquamarine
Erongo Mountain, Erongo Region, Namibia
2.4x 2.3x 2.1 cm
$120

A nice thumbnail of blue aquamarine from Erongo, displaying the typical habit and color that this locality is known for.

NB25 Schorl Tourmaline with Muscovite
Erongo Mountain, Erongo Region, Namibia
7.2x 3.9x 4.1 cm
$170

A odd schorl specimen, this one is wearing a sort of "hat" made out of muscovite.

NB26 Smoky Quartz
Erongo Mountain, Erongo Region, Namibia
10.3x 4.9x 3.7 cm
$175

A nice example of smoky quartz from Erongo-- unusually transparent for this locality-- in fact, in he closeup you can see though the crystal to the plastic stand on the other side. It looks more like something from the Alps, than from Namibia. There is minor chipping.

NB27 Topaz
Erongo Mountain, Erongo Region, Namibia
6.4x 5.8x 3.0 cm
$285

A large topaz crystal from Erongo. For all the material that comes from Erongo, topaz has always been quite rare. Recently more specimens have been coming from the Rondeclip area (where all the schorls and fluorescent hyalites are being found) but Erongo topazes are still few and far between. This one has a cleaved base, though displays as shown. A very sizable reference of topaz from this important, but otherwise hard to obtain (for topaz) locality.

NB28 Fluorite on Quartz
Goboboseb Mtns., Brandberg Area, Erongo Region, Namibia
5.5x 3.6x 3.0 cm
$165

A pretty example of blue fluorite on quartz, from the Goboboseb area, better known for producing amethyst and quartz,

NB29 Schorl Tourmaline with Hyalite Opal
Erongo Mountain, Erongo Region, Namibia
15.5x 9.0x 7.4 cm
$350

A cabinet sized example of schorl tourmaline with yellow, day fluorescent hyalite opal. There is some chipping on the schorl crystal, but it remains a rather good example for the price.  This was photographed indoors under fluorescent lighting, if you view it under natural sunlight, it glows with an added greenish hue.  Sawn on the back.

NB30 Smoky Quartz and Hyalite Opal
Erongo Mountain, Erongo Region, Namibia
7.4x 2.1x 2.0 cm
$145

A smoky quartz crystal with a partial coating of fluorescent hyalite opal.  These hyalites are apparently very mildly radioactive, I suppose that would explain why the associated quartz has become smoky.

7.8x 3.9x 3.3 cm
$295

A beautiful smoky amethyst hosting fluid inclusions with moving bubbles.

NB34 Quartz var. Amethyst
Goboboseb Mtns., Brandberg Area, Erongo Region, Namibia
6.5x 5.7x 5.5 cm
$345

A nice example of amethyst on matrix, from the Goboboseb Mtns.  This area is often referred to as "Brandberg," which is not entirely true-- the Brandberg massif is a protected area within sight of the Goboboseb workings, but the amethyst actually comes from numerous smeller hills west of Brandberg. Apparently Brandberg is full of minerals as well, but collecting is off limits.

NB35 Quartz var. Amethyst
Goboboseb Mtns., Brandberg Area, Erongo Region, Namibia
6.9x 4.3x 4.7 cm
$235

Apparently Brandberg is full of minerals as well, but collecting is off limits.

NB39 "Gitter" Quartz
Erongo Mountain, Erongo Region, Namibia
8.6x 3.6x 4.0 cm
$285

A great example of "gitter" quartz, from the German for "grid" or "lattice"-- so called because of the crosshatch arrangement of the quartz crystals that have epitaxially grown on the underlying orthoclase. These are primarily known from very old finds, though there seems to have been a pocket of the stuff discovered more recently as well.

NB40 Fluorite on Quartz
Erongo Mountain, Erongo Region, Namibia
6.4x 4.0x 2.9 cm
$285

A vivid green fluorite on a muscovite cast after something else-- maybe an orthoclase crystal?  This is a half a crystal, the back is a picture of etching and a little but of cleavage-- these often have deep etching which causes the crystals to easily come apart, in this case the etching went through most of the crystal.

NB41 Muscovite on Schorl Tourmaline
Erongo Mountain, Erongo Region, Namibia
7.1x 5.9x 3.5 cm
$145

A chunky muscovite book on the end of a schorl crystal.

NB49 Quartz incl. Fluorite
Erongo Mountain, Erongo Region, Namibia
6.9x 3.5x 2.6 cm
$165

Not perfect, but very unusual so I wanted to include this in the update. This is a quartz crystal included with green fluorite, from a find made about halfway uptake southern face of the mountain. There were a number of loose fluorite crystals, there were many large quartz crystals, there were even some quartz crystals associated with fluorite, but I only saw a couple where the fluorite was actually included in the quartz. The back and termination are not complete, but it remains a decent reference sample of this very unusual material-- particularly for Erongo.
