18CN99 Fluorite
Zhejiang Prov., China
14.0x 9.5x 5.5 cm
$285

A large cabinet specimen, hosting a number of deep green ball-shaped fluorite crystals.  Each one has hundreds of tiny, step-like faces-- these aren't cryptocrystalline sort that form smooth hemispheres, these are proper crystals.

A number of them also seems to be divided into quadrants--I'm not sure what the terminology for this is, but the only other place I've seen crystals with a similar "merged quadrants" appearance is the Pine Canyon Deposit in New Mexico.

DCN01 Fluorite on Quartz
Xiayang Mine, Yongchun Co., Fujian Prov., China
13.2x 10.5x 3.7 cm
$580

A very beautiful example of green fluorite on a matrix covered in small, clear quartz crystals. The piece is very clean of damage, with only the expected rubs at the extreme edges of the specimen.

The color of these pieces varies strongly with lighting-- under incandescent light they look grayish and undersaturated.  To be best appreciated, they need the equivalent of indirect sunlight.  What is depicted in the pictures is what you would see if the piece were placed next to a window on a cloudy day.

DCN02 Pyromorphite
Daoping-Yangshuo Orebody, Guilin Prefecture, Guangxi Zhuang A.R., China
5.6x 4.2x 1.9 cm
$295

A beautiful example of bright green pyromorphite, consisting of a plate of matrix covered on both the front and back with crystals.  The top edge hosts the larger ones, making for a particularly nice display.

DCN03 Plumbogummite ps. Pyromorphite
Daoping-Yangshuo Orebody, Guilin Prefecture, Guangxi Zhuang A.R., China
7.0x .4.0x 2.2 cm
$300

A nice cabinet sized example of plumbogummite pseudomorphing pyromorphite.  The degree of pseudomorphing varies from piece to piece, creating various different specimen "styles" from this find.  On this one, plumbogummite seems to be more of a shallow alteration, meaning that the original shape of the crystals is better retained (the more completely pseudomorphed ones tend to be etched and melted).  This one is in very good condition, quite rich, and the overall form is actually quite visually pleasing as well.

DCN04 Lollingite
Huanggang Mine, Hexigten Banner (Keshiketeng Co.), Ulanhad League (Chifeng Prefecture), Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, China
6.8x 5.0x 4.6 cm
$285

A beautiful, almost hemispherically radiating cluster of this rare iron arsenide.  The finds from Huanggang have pretty much saturated the market for this species, though I still liked the form of this one-- the ball-like shape was something I usually only saw in the much larger pieces that I purchased years ago.  The crystals are quite sharp and lustrous, with only some image to the edges of the cluster.

Unfortunately, it looks more 2D in the picture....  For the price, it's a very good example. I'd list it for more based on quality, but as noted above, the market is rather saturated......

DCN05 Barite
Xikuangshan Sb deposit, Lengshuijiang Co., Loudi Prefecture, Hunan Province, China
23.0x 8.0x 6.7 cm
$385

A very large cabinet sized example of barite from the world's largest deposit of antimony.  There is some damage, mostly near the edges, some being rather large chips, but the interior of the piece is in good condition. Displays exactly as shown.

DCN06 Quartz incl. Hedenbergite on Calcite
Huanggang Mine, Hexigten Banner (Keshiketeng Co.), Ulanhad League (Chifeng Prefecture), Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, China
11.5x 8.4x 1.6 cm
$395

Green quartz from Inner Mongolia started coming out soon after the initial discovery of specimens at the Huanggang Mine in 2010, and since then there have been numerous different habits unearthed.  I often see tiny little doubly terminated prisms that are popular with the metaphysical crowd, and I have on a few occasions come across calcite plates, pseudomorphed into green quartz.   This piece aesthetically combines the (not pseudomorphed) calcite plates with a sprinkling of doubly terminated green quartz crystals. It’s a very beautiful combination, and quite unusual…. It seems that you only ever see broken calcite/ calcite psudomorphs, or the little quartz crystals without a matrix.  This piece was fortunately preserved in a way that aesthetically combines both.

DCN07 Scheelite with Fluorite
Chashan Mine, Xianghualing Sn-polymetallic ore field, Linwu Co., Chenzhou Pref., Hunan Prov., China
7.4x5.7x 3.3 cm
$400

A beautiful and rather rare combination specimen of very lightly colored, transparent greenish fluorite with numerous small, nearly white scheelites.  A very interesting combination specimen from this new find.

DCN09 Scheelite
Chashan Mine, Xianghualing Sn-polymetallic ore field, Linwu Co., Chenzhou Pref., Hunan Prov., China
6.5x 4.0x 2.5 cm
$365

A beautiful example of scheelite from a new find. This area is mainly known for its pale green fluorite, but I would consider this to be a significant find of the species in China, joining the discoveries Ping Wu, Yaogangxian, and Inner Mongolia.  What makes these unique is the richness of the scheelite—the plates are entirely covered with scheelite octahedrons.  I have seen larger crystals from elsewhere, but this desnsity and coverage of crystals is quite unusual for the species, from anywhere in the world.

DCN10 Plumbogummite ps. Pyromorphite
Daoping-Yangshuo Orebody, Guilin Prefecture, Guangxi Zhuang A.R., China
10.5x 6.5x 3.4 cm
$385

A very colorful cabinet sized specimen of plumbogummite pseudomorphing pyromorphite. There were a number of "styles" of these specimens that were recovered, with crystal size usually inversely related to sharpness and color.  This one has smaller, sharper crystals and better blue color, that pleasingly grade to a lighter green moving from the left to the right side of the piece.  Good (and large) for the price.

DCN11 Scheelite on Fluorite
Xianghualing Sn-polymetallic ore field, Linwu Co., Chenzhou Pref., Hunan Prov., China
4.0x 3.6x 2.6 cm
$195

An great scheelite example for this locality, though not necessarily that great from other places.  This piece has a rather large and well formed brownish crystal on a bit of fluorite and rock matrix.  The crystal (naturally) ends abruptly on the left, and contacted on the reverse.  It's still an excellent example from a locality that is almost exclusively known for its green, water clear scheelites.

DCN12 Fluorite on Quartz
Xiayang Mine, Yongchun Co., Fujian Prov., China
83x 5.3x 2.6 cm
$95

A nice example of dodecahedral fluorite on a quartz-covered plate of matrix. There is a chip on the front upper face-off the fluorite, but it is not immediately apparent.  As with all of these, the color varies with lighting, being the strongest under indirect sunlight.  It's a little less bright in person.

DCN14 Beryl var. Aquamarine
Huanggang Mine, Hexigten Banner (Keshiketeng Co.), Ulanhad League (Chifeng Prefecture), Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, China
6.1x 1.4x 1.1 cm
$185

A nice, doubly terminated aquamarine crystal from he Huanggang Mine.  These were one of the surprises form the despost. Although Huanggang is a skarn deposit, there was actually a pegmatite running through the mining area that produced a number of these crystals in the early days of mining.  This piece was probably collected 7-ish years ago.

DCN14A Orpiment
Jiepaiyu (Shimen) Mine, Shimen Co., Hunan Prov., China
21.0x 16.5x 10.5 cm
$400

A very large example of orpiment from China, with a display face entirely covered in crystals.  This thing could probably use a trim to make it a little flatter-- though the excess rock matrix has a couple interesting things. In particular, I'm guessing the dark black stuff is native arsenic.

Please note, this is pretty heavy.... if you are outside the US it will cost a little extra to ship.

DCN15 Pyromorphite
Daoping-Yangshuo Orebody, Guilin Prefecture, Guangxi Zhuang A.R., China
8.5x 3.6x 3.5 cm
$275

A nice example of pyromorphite from the same zone as the plumbogummite pseudomorphs. You can see a bit of bluish material in the matrix and a dusting starting on the the terminations, but it hasn't quite pseudomorphed. It looks particularly nice if displayed vertically.

DCN17 Orthoclase
Wushan Mine, Tongbei, Fujian Prov., China
5.8x 2.2x 2.3 cm
$68

A very nice twinned orthoclase crystal, with a very small fluorite clinging to one side.  This locality is primarily known for its spessartine garnets, the feldspar minerals are typically just a the overlooked matrix.  This was a nice example though, in its own right.

DCN18 Fluorite
Xiayang Mine, Yongchun Co., Fujian Prov., China
6.5x 4.6x 3.4 cm
$195

A nice example of very purple fluorite fro the Xianyang mine.  This is not a perfect piece; there are a couple spots of damage including a rub to the main crystal and not he very top of the specimen.  The price takes this into account.

DCN19 Cassiterite on Fluorite
Weilasituo Ag-polymetallic deposit, Chifeng Pref., Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, China
6.2x 3.9x 3.5 cm
$85

A very usual specimen from a new find at the Weilasituo Polymetallic Ag deposit.  This piece has a single cassiterite crystal sitting on a partial blue-purple fluorite (the fluorite is cleaved on the back).  The surface of the the fluorite  has some alteration, but the cleaved back lets you see the various zones inside.  Not exactly a "fine specimen" but a very interesting reference piece.  The color of the fluorite varies with lighting.

DCN20 Scheelite on Fluorite
Xianghualing Sn-polymetallic ore field, Linwu Co., Chenzhou Pref., Hunan Prov., China
3.2x 2.5x 2.1 cm
$85

A nice "toenail" sized example of brownish scheelite nestled in a cluster of very light green fluorite crystals.  This is a somewhat rare combination from a new find.

DCN21 Fluorite on Muscovite
Weilasituo Ag-polymetallic deposit, Chifeng Pref., Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, China
7.8x 6.2x 6.1 cm
$85

A single fluorite octahedron with altered surfaces on a muscovite matrix, from a recent find at a new Inner Mongolian locality.  Pretty much all the examples I saw were cassiterite, there were only a couple fluorite specimens.  This is a good reference for the locality.

DCN22 Cassiterite with Muscovite
Weilasituo Ag-polymetallic deposit, Chifeng Pref., Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, China
12.4x 5.8x 3.1 cm
$345

A large plate of cassiterite with muscovite from a new Inner Mongolian locality.  Not 100% perfect, but displays as shown.

DCN23 Fluorite
China
10.5x 8.2x 3.7 cm
$175

A cabinet sized example of fluorite from somewhere in China, I honestly have no idea of even the province its from.  The surfaces of some of the crystals are a bit etched, I selected it because I liked the phantoms in the fluorites-- the crystals are mostly colorless, but have seemingly rounded (I'm guessing they're actually dodecahedral) purple phantoms at their cores.

DCN24 Scheelite
Chashan Mine, Xianghualing Sn-polymetallic ore field, Linwu Co., Chenzhou Pref., Hunan Prov., China
2.7x1.6x 1.2 cm
$90

A very nice thumbnail sized specimen, consisting of three stacked white scheelites from this recent find.

DCN25 Lollingite
Huanggang Mine, Hexigten Banner (Keshiketeng Co.), Ulanhad League (Chifeng Prefecture), Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, China
4.0x 3.3x 2.6 cm
$160

A very nice miniature sized example of this rare iron arsenide. With the exception of the Huanggang pieces, you don't really see the species from anywhere else very often.  The shaves on this one are particularly sharp, at it displays very well.

DCN26 Scheelite
Huya Village, Mt. Xuebaoding, Sichuan Prov., China
7.8x 3.9x 4.1 cm
$78

A nice reference sample of orange scheelite from what has to be the most famous locality in the world for the mineral.

DCN27 Scheelite
Chashan Mine, Xianghualing Sn-polymetallic ore field, Linwu Co., Chenzhou Pref., Hunan Prov., China
3.3x 2.2x 1.6 cm
$85

A nice thumbnail sized example of scheelite from this new find.  This piece has a single crystal on a bit of matrix Slight chipping on the tip, but nothing major.

DCN28 Fluorite
Yiwu Co., Zhejiang Prov., China
16.2x 8.5x 2.6 cm
$160

A nice example of deep, saturated green fluorite from Zhejiang Prov.

DCN29 Cassiterite
Weilasituo Ag-polymetallic deposit, Chifeng Pref., Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, China
5.0x 3.6x 1.8 cm
$275

A nice example of sharp cassiterite crystals on a contrasting matrix of purplish blue fluorite and an unidentified clay mineral.  Good example from this new locality.

DCN30 Fluorite on Quartz
Huanggang Mine, Hexigten Banner (Keshiketeng Co.), Ulanhad League (Chifeng Prefecture), Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, China
11.0x 9.7x 4.0 cm
$165

A nice example of purple fluorite on a cluster of quartz crystals, with a very distinctly Huanggang appearance.

DCN31 Pyromorphite
Daoping-Yangshuo Orebody, Guilin Prefecture, Guangxi Zhuang A.R., China
6.8x 4.6x 3.0 cm
$165

An odd pyromorphite, from a discovery made several years ago.  The examples from this pocket had unusually elongated crystals and a more olive color.

DCN32 Calcite incl. Hedebergite
Huanggang Mine, Hexigten Banner (Keshiketeng Co.), Ulanhad League (Chifeng Prefecture), Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, China
6.8x 3.6x 3.0 cm
$95

A cluster of calcite crystals, colored green by minute hedenbergite inclusions.  These are bit less common than the green, included quartz crystals that come from the same location.   There are a couple chips.

DCN33 Topaz
Yunnan Prov., China
2.2x 2.0x 2.0 cm
$70

A thumbnail sized specimen of water worn topaz from somewhere in southwestern China. The crystal has a very light blue color, which is unusual for topaz from this area.

DCN34 Cassiterite
Weilasituo Ag-polymetallic deposit, Chifeng Pref., Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, China
4.2x 3.2x 2.8 cm
$145

A great example of cassiterite from this new Inner Mongolian locality, from a find that I would consider to be pretty major for the species.  Excellent condition for the find.

DCN35 Pyromorphite
Daoping-Yangshuo Orebody, Guilin Prefecture, Guangxi Zhuang A.R., China
5.6x 4.5x 2.6 cm
$195

A nice example of bright green pyromorphite from a find earlier in 2018.

DCN36 Stibnite
Wuning Mine, Qingjiang, Wuning Co., Jiujiang Prefecture, Jiangxi Province, China
7.3x1.9x 1.5 cm
$78

A nice stibnite crystal, usually fat compared to the somewhat flattened crystals you usually see from China.  There is edge wear, but it's still a nice piece-- again, the relative robustness is what made me like this one a bit more.

DCN37 Pyromorphite
Daoping-Yangshuo Orebody, Guilin Prefecture, Guangxi Zhuang A.R., China
8.0x 5.3x 1.9 cm
$155

A very saturated green example of pyromorphite from Daoping.  It's about as green as you can get from the mine, with less of the yellow tone that even the best of these have.  The crystals are just OK, but still a decent piece for the price.

DCN38 Cassiterite with Muscovite
Weilasituo Ag-polymetallic deposit, Chifeng Pref., Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, China
2.8x 2.5x 1.75
$130

A very nice (and hard to find in this size!) example of cassiterite from the major new find at the recently discovered Weilasituo Polymetallic deposit.  This was pretty much the only roughly thumbnail sized piece I was able to get, and it's very clean of damage. I say it is "roughly thumbnail sized" because while it will fit in a TN box, it doesn't look good at the weird angle it has to be positioned, and it is certainly a "box buster," mainly because of the thickness of the piece.  It would look great on a small acrylic base, in a display of boxes thumbnails and small miniatures ("toenails") though....

DCN40 Plumbogummite ps. Pyromorphite
Daoping-Yangshuo Orebody, Guilin Prefecture, Guangxi Zhuang A.R., China
3.1x 2.x 1.7 cm
$88

A nice "toenail" sized example of plubogummite pseudomorphing pyromorphite.  This would look good on a small acrylic base, in a case of other small miniatures.

DCN41 Fluorite, Scheelite on Quartz
Dongshan Mine, Xianghualing Sn-polymetallic ore field, Linwu Co., Chenzhou Pref., Hunan Prov., China
3.5x 2.7x 1.9 cm
$135

A nice small miniature sized specimen of brownish scheelite on a matrix of quartz and very light green fluorite crystals, form a recent find.  This area is best known for its water clear green fluorites, scheelite (and especially combination pieces) is something of a rarity from the area.

DCN42 Pyromorphite
Daoping-Yangshuo Orebody, Guilin Prefecture, Guangxi Zhuang A.R., China
4.1x 1.4x 1.8 cm
$135

A relatively large hopper crystal of pyromorphite from China-- the color on the back is very bright, the front has some etching/ alteration.

DCN43 Beryl var. Aquamarine
Huanggang Mine, Hexigten Banner (Keshiketeng Co.), Ulanhad League (Chifeng Prefecture), Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, China
5.1x 1.0x 0.5 cm
$80

A nice, terminated aquamarine crystal from he Huanggang Mine.  These were one of the surprises form the despost. Although Huanggang is a skarn deposit, there was actually a pegmatite running through the mining area that produced a number of these crystals in the early days of mining.  This piece was probably collected 7-ish years ago.

DCN44 Fluorite
Xiayang Mine, Yongchun Co., Fujian Prov., China
4.1x 2.8x 2.4 cm
$150

A nice example of purple fluorite on a bit of matrix, from the Xiayang mine in Fujian Province. When backlit, you can see interesting green zoning, along with the purple. Contacted on the reverse.

DCN46 Plumbogummite ps. Pyromorphite
Daoping-Yangshuo Orebody, Guilin Prefecture, Guangxi Zhuang A.R., China
5.1x 4.2x 2.6 cm
$165

A nice example of pumbogummite pseudomorphing pyromorphite, from the Daoping-Yangshuo orebody.  This one is a bit odd, in that the main crystals tend to have smaller branching crystals at the terminations.

DCN47 Scheelite with Fluorite
Chashan Mine, Xianghualing Sn-polymetallic ore field, Linwu Co., Chenzhou Pref., Hunan Prov., China
5.6x 5.2x 2.0 cm
$165

A nice example of very faintly green fluorite with white scheelite, from a new find at the Chashan Mine.  This area is best known for its ultra-transparent, green fluorites, scheelite is a bit more rare from the area.  The back is covered with more small fluorite cubes.  There is some damage.

DCN48 Smoky Quartz with Orthoclase
Wushan Mine, Tongbei, Fujian Prov., China
5.8x 5.1x 3.8 cm

DCN50 Pyromorphite
Daoping-Yangshuo Orebody, Guilin Prefecture, Guangxi Zhuang A.R., China
6.0x 5.5x 3.0 cm
$165

An odd pyromorphite, from a discovery made several years ago.  The examples from this pocket had unusually elongated crystals and a more olive color.

DCN51 Celestite
Yunnan Prov., China
6.1x 4.1x 3.6 cm
$165

A nice example of celestite from a recent find in southwestern China, this piece features an unusually large central crystal.  Most of the cleestite on the market comes from Madagascar, with occasional pieces available from he Midwestern US, Poland, or North Africa. These have a very unique appearance, with more robust crystals and much deeper color.

DCN52 Cassiterite with Muscovite
Weilasituo Ag-polymetallic deposit, Chifeng Pref., Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, China
5.0x3.5x 2.8 cm
$88

A reference sample of cassiterite from this important new find at a relatively new location in Inner Mongolia. There is some damage, but again, for the price it's a good reference.

DCN53 Cassiterite with Lollingite
Weilasituo Ag-polymetallic deposit, Chifeng Pref., Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, China
4.8x 3.7x 2.0 cm
$160

An unusual specimen from a major new find of cassiterite at a new location in Inner Mongolia.  The cassiterite crystals on this piece are somewhat larger than average, and are more spaced out.  Most specimens from this find tend to have the crystals more tightly packed.  There are numerous lollingite crystals between the main clusters of cassiterite (a rare association) and an unidentified white clay mineral that adds a nice degree of contrast to the piece.

DCN57 Stibnite
Wuning Mine, Qingjiang, Wuning Co., Jiujiang Prefecture, Jiangxi Province, China
7.5x 1.5x 1.4 cm
$65

A very bent stibnite crystal from the Wuning mine.  There is edge wear, I just thought it was somewhat playful-- after all, how often to you see crystals of any species that exhibit this extreme degree of distortion?

DCN58 Pyromorphite
Daoping-Yangshuo Orebody, Guilin Prefecture, Guangxi Zhuang A.R., China
4.1x 3.3x 1.6 cm
$120

An odd pyromorphite, from a discovery made several years ago.  The examples from this pocket had unusually elongated crystals and a more olive color.
