Ojuela Fluorite and Milpillas Cuprite

As prolific as Mina Ojuela has been over the years, fluorite was never common at this location.  The specimens on this page come from a recent find, and incorporate the iconic limonite matrix that we have all become so accustomed to seeing on species like adamite, mimetie, rosasite and aurichalcite, what I would consider to be the staples of Mina Ojuela's production, with another species: fluorite.

There is also a small selection of cuprite specimens from Milpillas-- none of the examples I have seen from the location have been especially notable compared to pieces from Namibia, Arizona, or even Russia, but these are at least priced more reasonably than nearly identical pieces I've seen elsewhere.

MFC01 Fluorite
Mina Ojuela, Mapimi, Durango, Mexico
7.0x 4.4x 3.4 cm
$385

A very nice and uncommon example of fluorite from Mina Ojuela, on a limonite matrix.  As prolific as this mine has been over the years, fluorites have never been very common from there.  This is a particularly nice example, with the main crystal showing a good degree of transparency.

Unusual and hard to find material.

MFC02 Fluorite
Mina Ojuela, Mapimi, Durango, Mexico
8.6x 6.5x 3.5 cm
$270

A  nice and uncommon example of fluorite from Mina Ojuela, on a limonite matrix.  As prolific as this mine has been over the years, notable for the countless adamites, mimetites, aurichalcites, hemimorphites, etc. that have kept many wholesalers going,  fluorites have never been very common there.

This piece hosts two crystals with lightly etched surfaces.

I have not tested these specimens individually, but many show a reddish-pink fluorescence.

***Please note, these do exhibit a degree of fluorescence, so the color of these specimens varies with lighting, being more vibrant in sunlight, and somewhat more of a dark grape-jelly purple under incandescent, meaning that the contast between the crystal and the matrix may not always be as good as shown in the pictures, which were shot under optimal conditions.  Also, I suspect some of these have had oil applied...

MFC18 Cuprite
Milpillas Mine, Cuitaca, Sonora, Mexico
11.2x 6.3x 2.0 cm
$385

A nice specimen of cuprite form the Milpillas Mine, hosting numerous flattened crystals on a white matrix.  These have been really expensive regardless of whether or not they have decent color (these look metallic)-- I think it has something to do with them being from Milpillas, as for a while anything from there seemed to carry a premium.

In any case, this is a relatively good representative specimen, of decent size, and what I think is not a bad price.
