10/13/06- It has been brought to my attention that these specimens are actually clinohumite--not chondrodite. Regardless, they are still among the best known examples of *that* slightly rarer species. The only comparable specimens that I am aware of came from Myanmar--though their color lacked the depth of those from the more recent Afghan find.

Numerous deep red, gem Clinohumite crystals on a chlinochlore matrix , including one rather large crystal on this specimen. The main xtl is undamaged, but there is a hardly noticeable chip on the crystal next to it.
