BEAU1 Wulfenite, Barite, Mimetite
Chenelette, Bujeau, Rhone, Rhone Alpes, France
3.3x 3.0x 2.0cm
$100
So when was the last time you saw one of these? So many
specimens from contemporary European localities never make it to the US
market--it seems that almost all the French, German, or English specimens
that make it to this side of the pond are "classics."
This is a bit newer. I acquired this (and the next few)
as part of a trade with a French field collector, who recovered the
specimens in 1999, prior to the mine's closing in 2001.
It consists of several bright wulfenite crystals on a
blady barite matrix, with numerous tiny mimetite bowties (<2.5 mm)
scattered about.
