IML29 Quartz with Arsenopyrite

Huanggang Mine, Hexigten Banner (Keshiketeng Co.), Ulanhad League (Chifeng Prefecture), Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, China
8.3x 3.8x 3.0 cm

$190

A milky white quartz crystal associated with multiple arsenopyrite crystals.

I also purchased a larger specimen of this material, during trimming I noticed that the portions of the quartz crystals overgrown by arsenopyrite (which I knocked off during the trimming of that specimen) were transparent.  Based on this, it would seem that these quartz crystals were originally clear, then later overgrown by arsenopyrite.  At some point these quartz crystals came into contact with another solution that etched those portions not shielded by the arsenopyrite overgrowth.  The result are these white quartz crystals.
